The Mercedes-Benz M273 is a naturally aspirated four-stroke petrol engine in a V8 configuration. It has an improved intake system, increased efficiency, improved environmental performance and economy compared to its predecessors. The camber angle of the blocks is 90 ?. The engine block with reinforced bearing caps (weighing 33 kg) is made of aluminum alloy, the connecting rods and crankshaft are forged steel. Gas distribution mechanism – DOHC , 4 valves per cylinder, with independent variable valve timing for intake and exhaust valves. Swirl flaps are installed in the intake ducts. The compression ratio is 10.7: 1. The intake manifold is made of an aluminum-magnesium alloy.
