A new generation of M57 engines was introduced in a few new BMW models in 2009. The M57 “big six” engine family shares its basic technology with the straight-six M54/M55 engine family, but uses a displacement increase to 3.0 liters for an overall increased performance potential. First application for the M57D30TÜ2 is in the E60 5-Series (facelift model 2009) 530d and X5 30d, where an output of 200 kW (272 hp) and 500 N?m (368 lb?ft) are claimed.
